Russian Verbs учить-научить and учить-выучить

Did you know that the Russian verbs учить-научить and учить-выучить have 2 different meanings, although the first imperfective verb  учить is the same? Учить-научить means “to teach something to somebody” or “to teach somebody how to do something”, and учить-выучить means “to learn something”.

For example,

Папа научил меня плавать. Dad taught me how to swim.

Анна Николаевна научила нас английскому языку. Anna Nikolaevna taught us English.

Я учил слова. I was learning the words.

Петя выучил стихотворения. Peter learned the poems.
