April 27, 2018 | Tags: Russian declination Russian nouns

Did you know that short masculine Russian names that end in а or я decline as Russian feminine nouns? The same happens, for example, to the nouns папа and дядя, which are masculine nouns, but are declined as feminine nouns. It is also very important to know that the adjectives and the pronouns used with these nouns are masculine.

For example,

Вова, the short name for Владимир.

N.  наш Вова

G. нашего Вовы

D. нашему Вове

A.  нашего Вову

I. нашим Вовой

P. нашем Вове
